Well, this was probably inevitable.

After years of giving the Carreros their own books, bonus stories, magazines, playlists and an alarming amount of space inside my head, I have now given them their own YouTube channel too. 😂

Music Has Always Been Part of the Books

Long-time readers will know I’ve always made playlists for my books. Music is a huge part of the way I write because I don’t just hear a song and think, oh, that reminds me of Jake and Emma.

I use music while I’m creating them.

Songs help me find emotions, build scenes, work through character dynamics and sometimes completely shape the atmosphere of a moment before I’ve written a word of it.

What you probably don’t know is that I also make songs while I’m writing.

Some are created for a character. Some for a relationship. Some because I’m trying to capture the exact emotion I need for a particular scene.

And quite often…

I never share them.

They’ve simply existed behind the scenes as part of my writing process. They did their job, helped me create the scene or understand what was going on inside someone’s head, and stayed with me.

I’ve decided that’s a bit bloody pointless. 😂

If those songs helped create the Carrero world you eventually read, why shouldn’t you get to hear them too?

So that’s going to be a big part of this new channel.

The Old Carrero Playlists Are On There Already!!!!

I’ve brought together the original Carrero book playlists I’ve made over the years, filled with the artists and songs that accompanied me while writing each book. You can access them on the channel, and the newest Carrero Connection Playlist I used while writing these three books!

You can go right back to Emma and Jake with The Carrero Effect, The Carrero Influence and The Carrero Solution, then follow the music through the later books and couples.

They’re almost like little musical time capsules of where my head was while writing each part of the series.

But now they’ll sit alongside something much more personal:

the songs created specifically from inside the Carrero world.

🖤 The Carrero Empire

The first original song on the channel is The Carrero Empire.

This one belongs to the whole family.

It’s about the loyalty, legacy, love and slightly terrifying devotion that runs through every generation of Carreros.

Because beneath all the romance, drama, questionable decisions and men who occasionally need throat-punched, one thing has remained at the centre of this series from the beginning:

Family comes first. Always.

💛 The Carrero Effect — Emma & Jake

And obviously I had to go back to where all this madness began.

Emma Anderson and Jake Carrero.

The Carrero Effect takes the emotional journey of their original trilogy and turns it into a song — Emma’s control, her walls, Jake crashing into her carefully constructed life, and everything that follows.

Trauma. Trust. Fear. Love. Healing.

It’s their story distilled into a few minutes of music.

And hearing something that existed in my head become something I can actually sit and listen to is still slightly surreal.

And Now I’m Going to Share More of Them

That’s the part I’m most excited about.

As I’m writing, when a song appears because I need it for a character, emotion or scene, I’m not necessarily going to hide it away anymore.

Some may not make much sense until you’ve read the book.

Some may give you a completely different perspective on a character.

Some might let you hear the emotional blueprint of a scene that eventually appeared on the page.

And some will probably make you yell at me because you realise exactly what they’re referring to. 😂

Obviously, spoilers will be clearly marked where necessary.

The channel will grow alongside the books, but I’ll also be going backwards through the Carrero archive and sharing music inspired by characters and stories you’ve already read.

So there could be songs for any Carrero era appearing there.

Come Into My Writing Cave

I suppose that’s what this channel really is.

It’s not just a soundtrack collection.

It’s another little door into the way I create these books.

The playlists contain the music I listened to.

The original songs contain pieces of what I was trying to feel and create while writing them.

And after keeping some of that to myself for years, I think it’ll be fun to finally let you lot into that part of the process.
