⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I adored this book. It was one of those books I absolutely could not put down and stayed up way past my bedtime just to finish. While this book is first and foremost a love story, it is also a book about friendship, survival and compassion.
Emma is a deeply flawed protagonist. She is closed-off and skeptical of others, yet the author does a great job of making you root for her to overcome her fears from her traumatic childhood. Jake is the perfect compliment to Emma: super playful, strong-willed and fiercely protective. You will fall in love with him quickly, but also hate him a little bit because he’s not perfect either.
So please, GO READ THIS BOOK. You won’t regret it.
P.S. After learning Marshall wasn’t American, her writing style made a lot more sense to me.
