A Little Breathing Room

I’d hoped to be sharing a different kind of update about Nick’s View by now. It’s about 90% done, and being so close to the end makes stepping away frustrating. But over the past few weeks, I’ve needed to take a break.

First, a virus knocked me sideways. Once I’d recovered from that, I started having trouble with my ears, which developed into impacted wax. I couldn’t hear properly for four days and eventually needed suction to clear it. By then, my glands were swollen and I was feeling rough again.

I’m recovering now, but it’s been a bit of a run, and I need to give myself some time.

October also carries a lot for me emotionally. My anniversary with my partner and both my kids’ birthdays fall in the same month as the anniversaries of losing my brother and my gran. There are lovely things to celebrate, alongside dates that bring their own sadness.

Having all of that mingled together makes October a strange month. There’s love and happiness, but there’s grief too, and those feelings don’t always take turns neatly.

October has always been a bit of a washout for my writing. This year, with being ill as well, I’m giving myself a little breathing room instead of pushing to finish while I’m still recovering.

It’s frustrating to pause when so much of Nick’s View is already written. I want to get back to it, and I want to share it with you. For now, though, I’m taking a small emotional break and letting myself get properly better.

Nick’s View is still coming – I just need a little time.

Thank you for your patience, your support, and for sticking with me through the quieter stretches. It means a lot. ❤️
